On a rainy Sunday, decided to take a day trip to North Jersey and get some lunch. We stopped in at Anthony’s, set back off the road in a small shopping area. We were warmly greeted but told to order at the counter and then sit wherever we wanted. There is a back room restaurant that looked closed so we sat in the front of the store. The menu has a large variety of gourmet pizzas, hot and cold subs, soups and other entrees. We chose the Cheeseburger, Pasta E Fagioli soup, Fettuccine Alfredo and a small order of cheese fries.
The cheeseburger is a freshly made 1/2 lb. burger cooked nicely so that it stayed juicy and came on a fresh soft roll. All of the burgers come with steak fries, my favorite. We also ordered and extra plate of fries with cheese, maybe a little too much cheese but overall they were good. The fettuccini dish was a wider pasta served with a flavorful alfredo sauce which was delicious. Alfredo sauce is not normally a favorite of mine but this one was exceptional. The pasta entrée came with a choice of soup or salad. We had the Pasta e Fagioli. Many restaurants make their own version of this soup but this one was just like my mother used to make. It had small shaped pasta, cannellini beans, and small bits of carrot and tomato. Again, another dish that was outstanding, a dish from my youth.
The servers were very pleasant and helpful as we tried to box all of our leftovers. Maybe our eyes were a little too big for our stomachs, but the meals were also very big. We will be eating well again later this week. This establishment is a must and I plan on returning again hopefully to try the restaurant seating.
