If you desire to impress, Arugula is the place to go in South Jersey. Greeted by a friendly hostess we were seated immediately and attended to quickly. Menu’s and the wine list delivered, now the challenging part, deciding off a menu that wasn’t extensive but loaded with great offerings.
Their wine offerings locally produced Auburn Road were moderately priced the low being $15.00. You can also bring your own as well, glad we didn’t as our choice of Roxanne a light pink wine was fantastic with a nice fruity flavor, mildly dry, clean finish.
Off the specials I ordered the Lobster Bisque, two huge pieces of lobster came in the bowl with the soup being poured over at the table. A fantastic interpretation, huge flavor and the addition of a bit of truffle oil took the bisque to the “best I ever had status”.
We shared their Arugula Salad, fresh greens topped with gorgonzola, dried cherries, caramelized walnuts perfectly tied together with the lightly applied White balsamic-honey vinaigrette. Plenty to split but so was so good wish I ordered by own.
Main courses> Giovanni, veal, colossal crab baby spinach on top of mashed potatoes with a Champagne lobster cream sauce. The veal was crisp, thin with a rich flavor. Crab huge fresh pieces huge flavor and sliding through the sauce, a few pieces of heaven.
Barnegat Light Scallops> Huge scallops grilled perfectly resting over Jersey Corn Risotto with a white truffle lobster cream sauce. The grilled corn/tomato salad a great addition to the plate.
Closing out with dessert, the Cannoli which would make all Italian mothers proud! Fantastic service (thanks Paul!) great atmosphere and superior food, Arugula can compete with the best anywhere, so South Jersey is very lucky.
