Out for lunch, GFNJ stopped at the Bahama Breeze Island Grille in Cherry Hill. The room was filled with relaxing “Island” music as well as décor, we were seating quickly. Drink orders also taken immediately and the menu/ specials were explained. One of the drinks was a strawberry lemonade which is made at the bar. This drink was fresh with small chunks of strawberries, absolutely fantastic! The menu is very large, making it a tough decision on which way to go so we all tried a little something different.
As an appetizer, we shared the Crisp Onion Rings. A big serving of some of the largest onion rings we have ever had. The onions were nicely coated with Panko breadcrumbs and coconut flakes then served with a citrus mustard. The sauce was a wonderful compliment to the coconut.
For lunch, we ordered a BBQ Bacon & Cheese Burger, Key West Fish Tacos, and the Chicken and Fresh Vegetable Quesadilla Combo. The burger was ordered medium well, and came out perfectly cooked. It was topped with BBQ sauce, bacon, pepper- jack cheese and crispy fried onion strings. It comes with coleslaw also but we opted out of that. Wonderful flavors that blended so nicely on a big brioche bun. The fish tacos were also well blended and flavorful. We ordered 2 tacos with Mahi-Mahi, tomato salsa, cabbage and jicama slaw, the side of guacamole was not needed. Both the burger and tacos came with a side of fries, nicely done! Our last meal was the quesadilla combo that came with a choice of soup or salad on the side. We chose the Cuban Black Bean soup, which was a great choice that we enjoyed most of all. The soup was complimented with a cilantro-crema. The quesadilla was full of seasoned chicken, spinach, sweet peppers, onions, a three-cheese blend all served with salsa and sour cream. Again, this dish was a winner.
Overall, the service was quick, even during a busy lunch hour, and the meal was terrific. We are definitely going to make a return visit to this lively restaurant.
