Hearing some good things from other people about Bruno’s Restaurant & Pizza, we decided to give them a try for dinner. Located in a quiet neighborhood of Haddonfield, Bruno’s is a BYOB conveniently located next to a liquor store. The menu is a wide array of Italian dishes including pasta, seafood, pizza, hot and cold sandwiches, and appetizers. We ordered a panzarotti, egg and pepper sandwich and the stuffed shells and meatballs off of the children’s menu.
The meal began with a dish of long, hot peppers served with bread and a plate of bruschetta bread. The peppers are only for the daring diners, having tried a small taste it was a little to hot for me. The bruschetta bread was delicious and devoured immediately.
For entrees, we ordered a panzarotti, pepper and egg sandwich and stuffed shells and meatballs from the children’s menu. The panzarotti was ordered as a small but in fact was huge. The choice is yours as to whether you want it fried or baked and we chose fried. The outside was very crisp but not at all greasy. There was plenty to take home for later. The stuffed shells and meatballs were also very tasty with lots of cheese and very moist. A good sized portion for a child or even an adult. The egg and pepper sandwich was not exactly the star being flavorless. The sandwich was on a 12″ roll which was soft and chewy, exactly how I like it. The egg was overcooked, mostly brown and the sandwich was very dry.
Like I said, I heard a lot of good reviews from friends and wanted to get an opinion for myself. Overall, our meals were very good from the pizzeria portion of the menu. The Italian options looked very tempting and I know I would go back to give them another try. The price was a little on the high side but good food is always worth it.
