NO LONGER IN BUSINESS 🙁

Finding a great “new” place to frequent possibly the ultimate compliment and Casona’s is now that place. Their menu which serves traditional Cuban to Nouveau Latin cuisine, has a great variety to choose (beef, chicken, fish, vegetarian). If Cuban is unfamiliar to you need not fear, as their menu is descriptive and includes plenty of gluten-free options.

Quickly seated and waited on we started off with some Empanadas (3-turnovers) filled with chipotle chicken, ground beef and chihuahua cheese. Side sauces of garlic mayonnaise, red sauce (spicy) and tomatillo sauce. These deep-fried turnovers had a nice crunch on the outside and the fillings (beef and chicken) had a nice balance of ingredients. Deciding on which of the three was the best, not easy as they all were excellent. The dipping sauce you chose just might make the difference in one being better than the other. With that said, the chicken was the winner with the garlic mayo added, the beef and cheese, tied for second.

Paella, Casona Signature Dish, saffron rice, bay scallops, clams, mussels, shrimp, calamari, lobster, chorizo, chicken  and green peas. Can be ordered for one or two, was a fantastic journey of all my favorites. Starting with a great presentation that I took in for no more than 30 seconds I dug in! Each ingredient stood on its own as being flavorful and perfectly cooked, the rice complimented each of them equally. The huge “for one” portion was served in a skillet that kept the meal warm the entire time so my first mouthful was as good as my last. {The Cuban version of seafood over pasta might be the best way to describe for someone who might love seafood and have never tried Cuban. This being BETTER as the tastes of the seafood stand out; where many of times the over pasta style is more about the sauce.}

Arroz con Pollo Cubano> Chicken breast, tomato, onion tri color bell pepper, chorizo, olive, beer reduction, saffron rice and green peas. A robust meal which I enjoyed immensely. Chicken was moist and I loved the flavor of the olive! Super JOB!!

Overall a great experience as the food, service and ambience make this a MUST VISIT 🙂
