NO Longer in Business 🙁
We stopped by the Cool Dog Cafe in Cherry Hill on the recommendation of a friend. The cafe serves various hot dogs, hamburgers/ sandwiches and sides such as fries, sweet potato fries, mac and cheese, onion rings, baked beans and coleslaw. The hamburgers and sandwiches looked good but we decided to stick to the hot dog side of the menu. All of the hot dog selections are Sabrett all beef dogs that are deep-fried with a choice of either the 16 signature dogs or a make your own from a large variety of toppings. We ordered an “Italian”, “Hey, Mac” and the “Classic Chili Cheese Dog” from the signature dogs with a small order of regular fries and drinks.
The “Italian” has fried peppers, onions, fried sliced potatoes, ketchup and spicy mustard on a hoagie roll. The “Hey, Mac” has just what it says, mac and cheese on top as well as the “Chili Cheese” having chili cheese sauce. Each hot dog was delicious in its own way, the deep-fried dog giving off a flavorful snap on the each bite. The fries are fresh cut and twice fried, served in a brown paper bag with just enough sea-salt to enhance the flavor.
All of the signature dogs and sandwiches sound as though they are worth a try, some of the ingredients for the toppings are very creative and mouth-watering. Among the choices of hot dogs, there is also a challenge of the “Homewrecker” . A homewrecker is a 1/2 lb dog that comes with 3 different varieties of toppings. To win the challenge, you must eat 2 homewreckers with a small order of fries all in 20 mins. There are photos of winners posted on the walls.
The Cool Dog Cafe was worth the experience, having tasted each of the 3 dogs, we enjoyed all of it! The restaurant is very inviting with photos everywhere, including some of Hollywood stars just eating a hot dog. The staff was also very warm and pleasant, making for a great dining experience.
