Good Food New Jersey visited the Cooper House on Fathers Day, being treated by my great children. Recently opened, the Cooper House (former location of Lobster Trap) is sleek and modern with a modernized American menu. Seated immediately (had reservation) near the bar area which was very comfortable. Plenty of seating to enjoy river, as well as outdoor seating.
Started off with Smoked Oysters, southern butter smoked marinade, bacon, spinach, parmesan cheese. Similar to an Oysters Rockefeller meets Clams Casino. Spinach was pureed, addition of smoked butter reminiscent of a pesto. Superb flavor in this unique interpretation. Main meal was a Portobello Sandwich. Swiss, spinach and dijonaisse mustard. Good flavor overall from the smoked Portobello, an excellent sandwich that we’d definitely get again.
Dessert> NY Apple Cheese cake, overload of our taste buds, thoroughly enjoyed this decadent dessert. Sided with fresh made ground decaf that had strong flavor and some grounds left behind. Second dessert was a spin on a Tandy Cake, “out of this world” was the consensus.
My hosts both ordered burgers
and Cooper Burger. Both regarded as very good in quality and flavor. All were accompanied with fresh cut fries. Clearing our plates, all that is needed to be said.
Beautiful location, good service, good food and pricing reasonable, we recommend a visit to the Cooper House.
