Royal Farms has been expanding into New Jersey opening multiple locations throughout South Jersey. Passing through Bellmawr I saw one of the latest to open. The Giant inflatable chicken making his presence known. On the entry way “World Famous Chicken & Fresh Kitchen”. Very tempting! After tweeting and asking if anyone had any thoughts on their chicken, I received a few responses, 2 yes, good, and one a no. Thinking back to the “World Famous Chicken” statement……my mind was set, lunch at Royal Farms.
Arrived about 11:15, store wasn’t overly busy, seemed like a good time. Ordering process at a touch-pad, I ordered 4 pieces and a side of mashed potatoes with chicken gravy. Get a receipt, pay and came back to counter and my meal was ready! The chicken is out under heat lamps for all to see behind the counter. Offered in many options all the way to bringing home a family meal. Dark meat is my favorite when it comes to fried chicken and was reflected in my order. You can eat in as there is a few tables provided and bar style seating looking out over the parking lot. I was eating in, I wanted the whole experience of “Gas Station Chicken”.
Neatly boxed, the aroma was incredible!Grabbed my first piece and bit in! Thin crispy coating, nicely spiced, warm juicy chicken! Immediately thinking of competitors in the fried chicken industry, hands down better flavor. With no greasy taste or feel, I left full but not stuffed. Mashed potato side was blazing hot, good if you were taking out, not so eating in. Absent of chicken gravy (?) they were satisfactory, nothing notable up or down. Next time I’ll probably go with some Mac & Cheese. Roll, was cold to the touch and on the doughy side.
As for the store, its neat, orderly and open. Tons of food offerings it should please most. In comparing to other like stores, Royal Farms is the white cloth of convenience stores. Check them out and let us know where and when you go! Ill definitely be back.
