What is your go to Chinese restaurant dish? If you have been following our food adventures over the years you would know ours is General Tso’s Chicken or Grandfather Chicken. I have had many a good ones too! And some not so good. Yesterday I visited the Happy Garden in Mount Laurel. Typical unassuming location that primarily does take out, with a utilitarian dining area for the few that eat in. I ate in, ordering at counter and staff member brought out my order, soup within a minute followed by my main dish. Served with disposable dish, bowl and utensils.
General Tso’s sided with pork fried rice and egg roll. Chicken was crisp, flavorful sauce that wasn’t overly sweet and nicely spiced. Chicken lots of it was cooked perfectly, a VERY good General Tso’s. Fried rice was on the bland side with the rice texture being mushy. Egg roll, like any other egg roll. Wonton Soup was tasty.
Pricing under $10 with a bottled water. Service was friendly and very fast. General Tso’s Chicken, where is the best in New Jersey? We’d love to hear from you. If review was based on just the General Tso’s we’d give them a 4 out of 5. Happy Garden in Mt Laurel, let us know when you go!
