No longer in business

Going Greens is a new lunch spot located in the Novella’s Ice Cream Shop in Barrington. It advertises a healthier lunch menu including salads, wraps and soups made with fresh ingredients. They also offer drinks and snacks including fresh-baked cookies that looked quite tempting. The establishment only offers lunch so their hours are from 11am- 3pm, Monday through Friday. We decided to give this new place a try since we were in the mood for a healthier meal. The menu offers 15 different combinations of ingredients to be made into your choice of a salad or in a multi-grain wrap. If you don’t find what you’re looking for, you also have the option to create your own salad or wrap. There are also several fresh dressings to choose from as well as a soup of the day.

We chose the Taco Dip and the Chick-Egg-Na both in wraps along with a bowl of the French Onion Soup. The Taco Dip wrap was filled with a cream cheese salsa, black olives, diced tomatoes, tortilla strips and cheddar cheese. Extra dressing was provided on the side with crackers. The wrap, although a little messy to eat, was delicious. The flavors all blended very well together leaving very little need for the extra dressing.  The Chick-Egg-Na is a choice of chicken, egg or tuna salad with chopped celery, tomatoes and croutons. I chose the chicken salad wrap and was very pleased with my choice. All of the ingredients were very fresh in both wraps and were devoured as quickly as they were served. The French Onion Soup was again another excellent choice. The flavor was very strong, which I liked. The soup was also packed with multi-grain croutons and shaved parmesan cheese on top. My only concern was that the soup was mildly warm and would preferred it hotter. The temperature didn’t deter me from finishing it though, it still was delicious.

Going Greens is a cash only establishment worth visiting on your lunch break or if you are just in the mood for a healthier choice.
