NO LONGER IN BUSINESS 🙁
We decided to stop in and try this newly opened restaurant during a trip of running errands. Immediately, we felt welcomed and were told to sit wherever we wished. The décor is full of arranged personal pictures mounted on canvases of Italy and family photos. We spent a few minutes asking questions and admiring these attention-getting photos before we sat and ordered.
The menu is extensive with a large array of pizzas, salads, steaks, hoagies and pannini’s. This menu is different from the norm, though, there are several options with ingredients that you wouldn’t find at just any pizzeria. We ordered 2 slices of plain pizza, a pannini Turino, and another pannini from the day’s specials. Each of us had to have a taste of the others’ meal, the food was absolutely fantastic! The day’s special pannini consisted of grilled chicken with spinach and provolone on artisan bread. The bread had a wonderful flavor and complimented the ingredients well. The pannini Turino is Italian salami, fresh ricotta, provolone, tomato and roasted peppers also on the same type of bread. The flavors again all went well together, the sandwich may have been a little messy but it was well worth the extra napkins. Each of these dishes came with a side of red grapes, a nice change from the normal side of fries. Even the plain slices of pizza was a big hit. The dough is made fresh with a special recipe pizza sauce and different types of cheeses.
Our server, Al, also made our experience a superior one. He was very friendly, knowledgeable and even kept us entertained while we waited for our food. Thank you to Gran Forno, we had a fabulous meal and hope to be back soon!
