GFNJ recently discovered Griggstown Farm on Twitter and after a bit of research swung by for a visit. Located in Princeton, Griggstown Farm is not your run of the mill farmers market. Offering a large variety of ready for the oven/stove take-out foods, and baked goods. This on top of their fresh game birds, and chicken. The Executive Chef for Griggstown Farm is Chef Adam Brod.
Our purchases, ground chicken, pumpkin spice bread, sweet potato gnocchi, duck breast and french onion soup. Pricing on all the items came in a shade over $50.00.
We started off with the ground chicken. After a quick defrost we whipped up some Hawaiian Meatballs. We must emphasis, the ground chicken is locally raised. Recipe adjustments need to be made for the freshness! Extremely moist (a great problem), we needed to add more bread crumbs to our recipe. Browning in the pan, the aroma was comparable to roasting a chicken! Taste, well all I can say is “I will never buy ground chicken anywhere else again”. The chicken meatball replaced our traditional beef meatball in this recipe, and will continue to do so.
French Onion Soup, complete re-heating directions on package made this a simple task. Broth, big body and flavor. Enjoyed the spicing and enjoyed more the taste of lower salt content, allowing the beefy flavor to shine. Packed and frozen, all you need to do is reheat. Croutons are not included in packaging, this we think would be a great addition.
Pumpkin Spice Pound Cake, perfectly made, didn’t last a day in the house. The top, a bit sweeter with a light sprinkle of sugar? better than mom makes! Came in at a mere $6.00.
We still have the Duck, Turkey Pot Pie and gnocchi to go, so check back and we’ll give you the run down.
Great products, fantastic service, reasonable prices for farm fresh quality. It doesn’t get any better than Griggstown Farm.
2/17/15: Turkey Pot Pie, Griggstown sends it over the fence again! Super crisp crust that is thin, great flavor. Tons of turkey, vegetables remarkable firm gravy spectacular. We bought the small one and regretted it on every bite.
Sweet Potato Gnocchi> Blanched in rolling boiling water only a minute and a half (we allowed to thaw first). Ameretto cream sauce (Griggstown Suggestion and on their website.) Excellent is the only word for them.
