Located on the White Horse Pike in the Stratford Center. Received their menu through the mail and decided to give them a try based off the extensive offerings of Chinese, Japanese and Thai. Ordering takeout we decided on Shumai (Shrimp Dumpling, Japanese), Shrimp with Mixed Vegetables (Chinese) and the Khao Phad Sobparot (Thai)
Shumai> Nicely displayed steamed dumplings on lettuce with a side of soy garlic dipping sauce. The dumplings were mushy and had no significant flavor without drowning them in the dipping sauce.
Shrimp and vegetables> ordering the pint size the meal came with three large shrimp, perfectly cooked as were the vegetables. Nice flavor of the sauce pulled the entire meal together. Wish I had ordered the quart to get more shrimp!
Khao Phad Sobparot> Thai rice, chicken had a nice char giving it a smoky flavor. Shrimp were firm and took on the same flavor as the chicken. The rest of the ingredients a superior mix of pineapple, raisins, green pepper carrots and shallots. Rice was fluffy pulling the entire dish together, having a nice warmth of spice. Pineapple cubes a bit too large in comparison to the vegetables ( a very minor issue that didn’t detract from the great flavor.
With their huge menu, everyone should be satisfied when dining at Hewa. The time of placing order to delivery at door, 19 minutes! If you eat in, it is B.Y.O.B.
