Metal walls and black painted floors, Marie’s Sandwich Bar is not your ordinary looking sandwich and their menu is also far from ordinary! GFNJ stopped for lunch and started the ordering with one of their “soup’s of the day”, Seafood Chowder. Superior flavoring on the broth, seafood (crab, shrimp, mussels) was in abundance. Veggies added carrots and potato remained crisp in broth providing a nice balance. Mussels (4) in the chowder served in the shell, were fresh and flavorful. But with plastic utensils a bit difficult and messy to eat.
Sandwich menu, large and uniquely named, we patrolled it and chose the Sara Marie, a roast beef panini with additions of provolone, watercress, tomatoes, red onion marmalade and watercress. Particularly liked the slight sweetness and bite from the red onion marmalade. Excellent balance of flavors well-made and huge!
Marie’s Sandwich Bar a terrific stop all around. Pricing was excellent, service friendly and fast, food excellent.
