Park & Sixth on Grove Street in Jersey City, if you never have been here before you are missing out on some of the BEST FOOD in New Jersey! Good Food New Jersey visited the bar/restaurant May 15, sampling from their lunch and dinner menus. We also had the pleasure of meeting and talking with Chef/Owner Brian Dowling. Dowling a self-taught Chef learned his craft from “reading cook-books and watching the Food Network” is redefining bar food one creation at a time. Constantly looking to improve, Dowling “is willing to try new dishes” in the kitchen and recently has added some new offerings.

Ordering one of his new menu items Thai-Curry Mussels with Crunchy Bread. The creamy coconut milk based sauce had a nice blend of curry and other spices (secret, go get a patent!). The additional spices makes this a winner, taking the flavor of curry and transforming it into a new spice of its own. A large portion that had an inviting presentation I would suggest ordering extra bread as the sauce is too good to leave behind.

Off the lunch menu we started with the wings. Large and meaty the hot sauce had the blue cheese incorporated in making it warm and cooling at the same time.

We also tried two sandwiches:  The Liam: Breaded Chicken Cutlet, Sharp Provolone, Bruschetta, Prosciutto, Basil, Portuguese Roll . A well-balanced sandwich of great flavors that complimented the star of the sandwich the juicy crisp chicken. The second sandwich  2 Points to Genius: Marinated Skirt Steak, Gorgonzola Cheese, Mesculin with a Roasted Garlic Mayo. A steak lovers dream, great marinade and the strong flavor offered from the Gorgonzola took it off the charts. Loved the addition of some greens that added tartness. With the two sandwiches we ordered the Sweet potato fries, super crisp on the outside and soft in, can’t get them any better than this.

“Quality Food and People”, this along with an eclectic decor that mirrors the personality of Chef/Owner Brian Dowling, Park & Sixth is a must stop for city residents and worthy of a road trip from any distance. Quality staff that makes you feel like family how could it get any better? They make their own Mozzarella!!

Park & Sixth, check them out and experience some of the best food Jersey City has to offer.
