May 27, 2016> Return visit to Philly Diner this time for lunch and a helping of breakfast all day! Scrambled Eggs, hash browns and a side of scrapple. Scrapple was cooked perfect with a superior crust on the outside. Eggs were good, hash browns a bit boring and with some large pieces.

BLT> Thick, bacon cooked crisp, we had on rye. Sided with french fries, pickle and cole slaw. Solid pick, we enjoyed. Soup of the day New England Clam Chowder, good flavor, potatoes tender, recommend getting when you go as we’ll get again.

Service very good! Hostess fantastic! We lost a personal item and went back, she went out of her way to find it for us! Good solid New Jersey Diner experience.

First visit:

On a suggestion from a Facebook follower “you should check out the Philly Diner”, today was the day. A lot has changed since the last time I was here years back when I lived in the area. Now the Philly Diner and Sports Bar. Very modern with plenty of booth seating and counter seating. Huge breakfast menu to choose from with specials as well.

I ordered the Grecian Scramble> Eggs, Gyro Meat, Tomatoes, Mushrooms, Feta Cheese and Oregano. A wrap that also comes with fried potatoes and was a “special”. A fat wrap that held together well, ( credit to the cook who knows how to fold it!) ingredients were well-balanced throughout the entire wrap. Compliments to the perfect limited use of the Feta. The Gyro meat had superior flavor and was very tender. The potatoes, I do have a pet peeve when it comes to them and these did not have what I like which is a little bit of onion, so the potatoes were boring.

The service was excellent  (thanks Lorin) providing me fast service and frequent trips back to warm the coffee. Priced well, the Philly Diner and Sports Bar will definitely be on the return trip list.

Phily Diner

I haven’t been to the Phily in a long time, since it has been remodeled. The place is much bigger and it does have a much more modern feel to it.
We ordered a California burger that was delicious. It came cooked nicely the way I ordered with a large amount of lettuce, tomato, and avocado. The bun seemed to fall apart a little too much but it was a huge portion and was very tasty. The fries that accompanied it were not so good. They tasted frozen and a little grainy.
We also had a western omelette which was ok. It could have used something to give it a kick. The home fries I agree were also bland.
The menu was enormous so I think we will try again.
Thanks for the review and getting me to try the diner once again.
