Old school bar located in West Deptford. We were greeted with a friendly “hello” upon entering. Large bar area with limited table seating on the perimeter. Shuffle board bowling!!! Solid bar menu along with a daily special menu. Off that menu we ordered the Shrimp Salad, that came with pasta salad and Cole Slaw. Together the three a strange match but, all three were excellent. Home-made screams to you on the first bite of the Shrimp salad, super fresh and great flavor. Modest amount of mayo used that allowed the shrimp flavor to shine. Pasta salad, very fresh with the pasta on the firm side showing again HOME-MADE.
Off the regular menu ordered Teriyaki Wings and Perogies. Wings cooked crisp in the deep fryer perfectly. Came served in large bowl with sauce on bottom. Liked how they were served so we could get as much or little sauce as we desired. Perogies, boiled and gently browned. We ordered with butter and fried onion. Simple, to the point and delicious.
If you like the old school bar feel, South Wood is for you. Very good food, friendly service and pricing is excellent. Ice tea, two drinks from the bar and all the food above under $30!
