Our last night after a week of vacationing found us at The Cove in Brigantine. Restaurant and Bar, with two menus and a smaller bar list available in restaurant area. Seated immediately we did have a reservation. Service was efficient throughout, but a bit too much attempted conversation. Menu covered all bases, with us deciding on Chicken Parmesan, Crab Cake Sandwich, 2 appetizers for dinner, Crab Mac & Cheese, Mussels in White Sauce with Pasta.
We did start with 2 appetizers of Calamari, and Shaved Brussel Sprouts. Both large enough to share. Calamari was fresh and crisp sided with a marinara. Tasty offering that everyone appreciated. Shaved Brussel Sprouts were incredible! Lemony sauce with thick cut crisp bacon. Perfectly cooked, we highly recommend.
Crab Cake sandwich sided with fries. Little filler in the crab cake which who wouldn’t appreciate that! Superbly cooked, we thoroughly enjoyed 🙂 We did have to wait for some tarter sauce as no sauce was provided. Nothing notable on the fries positive or negative.
Mussels in White Sauce> we chose pasta added making this appetizer a main meal. Mussels were tasty, one pound in all, 1 did not open. White Sauce was horrible! A lemony tasteless liquid that was devoid any spice. Next time, if there is one, on this one, I will wear a dark color and go with a red sauce.
Chicken Parmesan> Everything that you would expect in this Italian dish. Moist chicken lightly breaded, sauce was rich. A nice interpretation.
Crab Mac and Cheese> The winner of our night! Large appetizer that easily became a main meal. Crispy on top a nicely balanced offering with the consensus opinion of WOW! The highlight of the night.
Service was pleasant and efficient throughout. Pricing in-line for a shore town. Having some really good dishes and the one just awful, The Cove is a restaurant that comes in at a Hit or Miss. Brigantine Bars, Pubs and Seafood, The Cove covers it all.
