Pizza and Bar, seemed like a perfect mix! We visited Treno Pizza bar on Haddon ave for dinner on a quiet Thursday night. Seated immediately in a comfortable booth we looked over the menu. Friendly and knowledgeable waitress made a few recommendations helping us to our decisions. Margarita Pizza, Pepperoni Pizza, as well as ordering 3 appetizers, Calabrian Wings, Mussels Di Parma (this ordered as main meal), Ricotta & Honey Jar.
Appetizers coming out in about 10 minutes. Ricotta & Honey Jar> Served with Crostini, a simple and delectable start! Small pieces of walnuts throughout, a terrifically delicious! We added some more crostini and took the rest home. Calabrian Wings> pleasing to the eye, 8 wings of medium size. Calabrian Chili, with a hint of garlic. Good amount of heat we cooled off with the sided apple fennel slaw. Wings were moist, expertly cooked. Unique wing that I would most definitely get again.
Pizza’s> both from a wood fired oven. Thin crust, sauce above average in flavor, we preferred the Margarita, though we are a bit bias. Pepperoni Pizza, a nice version that certainly would please the pizza lover. Mussels DiParma, red or white sauce, we chose red. Prosciutto, oregano and garlic. Found the sauce odd in flavor and texture. Prosciutto, long pieces of chewy. No flavor in the meat at all, Didn’t find any of the flavor of oregano or garlic. Mussels a nice amount about 18, with 3 not opening were very small pieces of meat. Making our main course a mistake, but in an appetizer capacity still a disappointment.
Service was very good throughout our meal. Pricing reasonable, location very welcoming and comfortable. Treno Pizza bar, pizza, pasta, salads, sandwiches and entrees, everyone should be satisfied. Extensive bar list of wines, specialty drinks and beers. Let us know when you go!
