Vitarelli’s is an Italian family restaurant that has been around since 1976. I have eaten there in my youth but it had been a long time since so I decided to give them a try again. On a Monday night, the place had a few patrons in its elegant dining area. We were told to sit wherever we wished and then were offered two menus, the pizza and sandwiches or the dinner menu. We chose the pizza and sandwiches and found it to have the typical offerings along with an assortment of some very different sandwiches as well as pizza choices.
We decided to split a basic cheese steak with added onions and green peppers and an order of mozzarella sticks. Also ordered was a chicken caesar salad wrap and drinks. The appetizer of mozzarella sticks were actually excellent and I can say along with the marinara sauce, some of the best I’ve tasted. The sticks were very hot and the outside was very crisp but not at all greasy. The sauce it came with was slightly chunky and had a lot of flavor. The cheese steak came quickly as we finished devouring the appetizer. It looked about 12 inches big and was definitely a good choice to split between two. The roll was slightly crisp very fresh tasting. It was packed with delicious meat and cheese that complimented it well. The only flaw would be that it came with a few pickle slices. They were also good but I would have enjoyed some fries instead. The chicken wrap was not quite as appreciated as the rest of the food. The wrap was filled with lettuce, chicken and croutons with some parmesan cheese but it really lacked a strong flavor. This dish also came with the pickle slices.
The staff was very friendly and quick to our needs. She checked on us often and actually made nice conversation with us while we waited for our food. I will definitely return to this establishment to try their dinner menu.
