We visited Barrel and Roost for dinner tonight. We were smart to make a reservation at opentable The parking lot was super crowded. We were greeted by pretty palm trees and music and nice scenery that distracted us from viewing the highway (see story). tinybar is awesome and the outdoor seating area looked inviting. It was too warm for us to eat outside tonight.

Of course we ordered enough food for five people. We had a table full of food.

1. Barbecued pork belly- while it was tender and full of flavor, was just room temperature. not sure if this is usually how they serve it, but I would've preferred it to be (temperature ) hot.

2. We had the salad with bib lettuce and roasted chicken. I think the chicken was THE best part about this dish. Whole, tender, well seasoned chunks of chicken with the skin on, laid on top of a large portion of bib lettuce. The dressing was light enough and did not overpower the taste of delicious chicken.

3. Carbonara pasta- the pasta was well cooked and the portion was certainly the dinner serving. I would've preferred it to be a bit more creamy, but it was delicious. The sauce was tasty.

4. Felice pizza did make us happy. Red sauce, broccoli rabe and Italian sausage- they make a good pizza. The crust was a little chewy for my liking, but the flavors were great together. I didn't have to ask for Parmesan cheese or add salt and pepper to anything.

5. Nicholas Burger- cooked medium- A super thick slice of cheese and cooked onions on a sesame seed brioche bun. @barrelandroost ... you make a kick-a$$ burger!

and finally... @hotredkat and I split dessert- the banana split for two. Oh. My. Gosh! Thick chunks of banana, mounds of whip cream and our server, Nicolas, even bought us cherries for on top! The service was impeccable. Nicolas, answered all of our questions about the menu, stopped at the table frequently to check on us to make sure we were enjoying our dinner, and was very attentive. Great service is always appreciated! Thanks Nicholas!
